Lawyer under Chinese Law


Job Descriptions

Soundclaims is looking for a highly motivated Lawyer under Chinese Law to join our headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In this function, you will be coordinating legal proceedings and debt collection activities in African countries. Acting as the core of communication, you will be providing decision influencing advice to our clients. You will design and carry out debt recovery & restructuring strategies (both legal and commercial), together with our local colleagues in Africa and monitor the recovery process in general. Our team in Amsterdam consist of multi-disciplined lawyers and legal advisers.


Job Responsibilities

1.Debt recovery & debt restructuring.

- Defining and carrying out commercial and legal strategy.
- Analyzing trade documents derived from international commercial transactions such as international sales contracts, distribution and agency agreements, letters of credit, general terms and conditions, etc.
- Making and monitoring restructuring agreements.
2. Communicating with local colleagues in Africa.
3. Advising international clients.
4. Conducting on the ground investigations in Africa.
5. Coordinating legal proceedings and liaising with external legal counsels and lawyers on matters related to debt recovery litigation, enforcement, seizure and/or arbitration proceedings.
6. Other corresponding and administrative responsibilities.


Job Requirements

1. Legal background.

2. Preferably 1 to 3 year’s experience in dispute resolution and/or international trade. We also welcome candidate who have no prior experiences.
3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate and correspond with people from different cultural backgrounds and managerial levels.
4. Organized with attention to details.
5. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently both independently and in a team.
6. Excellent verbal and writing skills in both English and preferably Chinese. (Mandarin)
7. Available immediately or within a short notice.
